TMD disorders, Bruxism, chronic tension headaches and migraines...

Did you ever wonder what these symptoms have in common which affect

your everyday life?

MidCoast Family Dentistry treats patients with chronic pain of

the head, neck, and facial areas using a non surgical diagnosis and

treatment for craniomandibular disorders more commonly known

as TMJ/TMD disorders. Many people with chronic headaches and

migraines are also people who are grinders and clenchers and suffer

from the effects of TMJ/TMD disorder on a daily basis. Based on

symptoms we incorporate both orthotic appliance therapy, injection

therapy, and work closely with physical therapy, and massage modalities

to increase treatment success. At our Comprehensive Evaluation,

Dr. Randy and his team go through a highly detailed patient interview

that includes three pieces of diagnostic equipment used to create a patient

tailored treatment plan.

Our continuing education by Dr. Barry Glassman who is the director

of the Allentown Pain Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania is at the cutting

edge of pain management having worked with and taught neurologists

and presented at major headache and pain centers around the country.

We follow his model of pain management and continue to become more

involved in the treatment of headaches, migraines craniofacial and cervical pain.

NTI-tss device

MidCoast Family Dentistry offers an orthotic device that is different from the full mouth guard approach to TMD disorders, Bruxism, headaches and migraines. The NTI-tss was developed by Dr. James Boyd and was approved by the FDA to prevent migraine type headaches by keeping the canines and molars from touching to reduce the amount of forces that can be created, therefore, taking away the noxious stimuli that can cause craniofacial pain, cervical pain, headaches, and migraines. The full guard approach allows the forces to be created therefore providing a hyperactive response by muscles and the nervous system in some people which in turn creates pain issues and permanent TemporoMandibular Joint damage in some. Please ask the team at MidCoast Family Dentistry for more information if you suffer with any of these symptoms.
